Margaret Cho speaks out about California same-sex marriage affirmation
Here's what Margaret Cho has to say about it:
Oh Califonia! How proud I am of you! I was born in San Francisco, and although I always loved my fair city, during the 80s I was seriously torn up because secretly, I knew I would eventually have to move to Los Angeles to begin my show business career. I had a deep crush on all of Southern California. Isn't it funny when you can have a love affair with a network of small cities connected by freeways? So I cheated on San Francisco with Los Angeles, and I ended up marrying LA, but now I keep reigniting my San Francisco passion by returning time and time again.
Now I see you can love two cities, and you can love a whole state even more. Now that California has gay marriage, I feel like the whole state has been upgraded. The traffic seems lighter, cars moving faster, breezier through the streets because everyone is in a good mood making wedding plans in their head. It is unseasonably hot right now, but it isn't unbearable, because the notions of freedom and equality are keeping us cool. The right to gay marriage feels like what it is called – just 'right' – and I can't imagine living anywhere else right now!! yeah!!! And pride is going to rock this year – especially in San Francisco and Los Angeles - so if you live in another state, please come for the party!!!
Denver speaks out about California same-sex marriage affirmation

"I think it's a wonderful thing and I hope it doesn't get burned on the back end in the Supreme Court. It's good to have states' rights but we also need something national for the people who want to do that. For me personally, I think there are ways to affirm your relationship other than aping straight rituals but that's just my personal opinion." - Jerry, staff writer for Out Front Colorado

New Hannah Montana scandal?
Recently Los Angeles based band Lustra was reviewing the emails on their myspace page (myspace.com/lustra) and they noticed several emails that conveyed the same idea - their song - "Scotty Doesn't Know" - taken from their album LEFT FOR DEAD sounded identical to "Rockstar" by Miley Cyrus - aka Hannah Montana.
The band listened to both tracks and realized the similarities themselves. "Scotty Doesn't Know" was recorded for the movie EUROTRIP, starring Matt Damon, which was released in 2004, and well in advance of Cyrus' "Rockstar", released in 2006. In another strange coincidence their producer out of Boston, was connected to the television hit series "Hannah Montana". The idea was now not so farfetched. The band also noticed something on the Billboard Magazine charts - "Scotty Doesn't Know" was at 75 while Ms. Cyrus was just starting to work her way up the charts - her song "Who Said" was at 92.
When confronted with the idea, the producer refused to return calls. Nick Cloutman, Lustra's guitarist, offered, "Although we are very flattered that Ms. Cyrus took this route, we would have preferred some credit."
The band is considering various options to rectify this situation. The immediate solution, however, is to work with a Los Angeles based producer to minimize leaks, and keep all future recordings in a vault, under extreme security. "If Hannah Montana wants us now - who is next? The Jonas Brothers?" declares Lustra's frontman, Chris Baird.
Nick did offer one request, "If Annie Liebowitz is interested in photographing us nearly nude we are certainly open to it and we look forward to her call."

Dems need volunteers today
The State Party is requesting volunteers to help count the 7000+ ballots that were cast in the State Convention and CD's 3, 4, and 5 Conventions this weekend. The exact time and place are being determined but it will be here in town somplace during the day on Monday, May 9th.
This task requires a small amount of computer skills. Essentially using a handheld scanner and typing in numbers from time to time.
If anyone is available to help with this project, please email Secretary@DenverDemocrats.org.
The Movies That Missed Us at Starz
It's no easy task pulling together a program of 175-plus films every year for the 11-day cinematic blowout that is the Starz Denver Film Festival. Sometimes, amid the planning and programming, the screenings and selections, a film gets left behind. There are myriad reasons for the omissions: other film festivals' premiere policies come into play; a single print gets booked elsewhere for the dates we want to screen it; distributors devise complex roll-out strategies that don't match our festival dates; the list goes on. The Movies That Missed Us presents four films Keith from Denver Film Society deeply loved but was unable to book at the time of their release. To the best of Keith's knowledge, these films have never screened in Denver-until now.

Sneak Peek: Hamburger Mary's Patio
I grabbed a sneak peek Hamburger Mary's patio and I have to say, I was impressed. They've obviously put a ton of time and money into it and I can very easily see it becoming the place to be in the months ahead.
